The interiors of Radisson Blue Leninsky Prospect Hotel in Moscow have been developed in 2019-20. The opening of the hotel took place in 2023.
The concept and philosophy of the hotel are Midcentury Cosmic Dream.
The meaning of three words this musically sounding combination consists of, is reflected in the architecture of interiors, in pieces of furniture, and in decoration.
"Midcentury" in this context is not so much an encyclopedic architectural term, but rather a soft feeling of the interior, a subtle, almost imperceptible touch of retro in style. Its coming through tactile handmade surfaces of materials (walls made of sandstone velvety to the touch, marble floor, warm natural wood, brass staircase perceived as a modern sculpture), and meticulous attention to the details (brass lining and lamellas on the walls, thoughtful diversity of handmade textures, decorative light).
It could be said that the peculiarity of these interiors is in unique mixture of high-tech and low-tech - like in very sincere and slightly naive films about cosmic space shot in the 60s of the last century. Thanks to this, the interior architecture turned out to be in its own way classical and almost timeless - furniture and decoration may change in it, but its architectural value will remain the same and will always set the style of the interior.
“Cosmic dream” obviously echoes the first half of the concept and refers us to the location of the hotel in the Russian capital - on Leninsky Prospekt, not far from Gagarin Square. The space theme is recognizable mainly in decorative lamps: four impressive compositions of frosted glass balls in the lobby and a chandelier made of colored glass lenses and spotlights in the atrium.
The theme of space is also picked up by art objects located in the common areas of the hotel and in the rooms: these are abstract paintings, digital collages, and textural panels reminiscent of the disk of the moon in the rooms.
The collection of art objects decorating hotel common areas and rooms deserves a special mention. The hotel has housed an original and quite extensive collection of modern art. The lobby and congress center feature abstract paintings by contemporary artists. They are elegant and discreet in color and fit perfectly the concept of the hotel. Filini restaurant has an original selection of works made in the technique of photography and digital collage, as well as a collection of author's ceramic accessories. The restaurant selection is noticeably brighter and warmer in color and texture. The living floors are decorated with prints featuring the works of modern photographers and collagists, made in black and white graphics, which stylishly and favorably complement the interiors of rooms and corridors.
The project is developed for the architectural bureau Front Architecture.
